Meet Our Coaches

Our coaching team is the heart of Basildon Kickboxing Academy. Each coach brings their own experience, personality, and passion to help every student feel supported, confident, and challenged — no matter their starting point.

Paul Smith

Head Coach - 2nd Dan Black Belt

Paul has decades of Martial Arts experience, previously competing in Kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA, Boxing and Submission Grappling at a National Level.

He still regularly trains with long time Coach and Friend Lee Mayo, 4th Dan Black Belt.

He has been a member of the WAKO British Kickboxing Team on four separate occasions.

Now devoted to teaching and passing on knowledge, Paul enjoys breaking techniques down in detail and understanding the whys and how's of the sport.

Natasha Kennedy

Junior Coach - Brown Belt 1st Kyu

Natasha is a supportive and highly approachable coach who excels at helping anxious students feel safe and welcome from their very first session.

She has a natural ability to put people at ease, taking the time to understand each individual and helping them settle in at their own pace. Natasha is especially valued by Junior Students creating a positive environment where everyone can thrive.

She is currently working towards her Black Belt 1st Dan and still actively competing across the country in K1. Last year she was a Finalist at the prestigious ISKA National Championships.

Darren Adams

Junior Coach - Purple Belt 2nd Kyu

Darren is one of the longest serving students at Basildon Kickboxing Academy. He is known for being very committed and determined in his training and he always tries to pass this attitude onto other students.

Darren sets an amazing example to the Junior Students, setting high standards which everyone thrived to try and match.

Darren is currently working towards his Brown Belt 1st Kyu and has actively competing at National Level.

"Always have a great time here. No dramas. Everyone is welcomed, no egos. Coaches are always helpful and understanding. It’s always a great vibe and lots of fun."
